I just found this site: http://www.saairforce.co.za/ which says that applications for these positions don’t actually close. Instead, they cut-off after a certain number of applications has been reached and put anythings else after that for the next year. So, Keep applying.

Think the Defence Force is about fighting or shooting guns? About soldiers!?
I have bad news for you. The Defence Force is NOT about becoming a soldier or going to wars (Luckily South Africa does not go around the world killing innocent people.)… Anyway, let me school you about careers at SANDF.
Lesson 1: Did you know that the SANDF offers courses similar to those offered by universities + a few that are specific to the area of defence? For instance, check this out:
- Catering;
- Material Support Clerk;
- Personnel;
- Musician;
- Firefighter;
- Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial and Aeronotical Engineering.
Question: Does that look like shooting guns? Not to me. What about you?

Lesson 2: Did you know that the minimum requirement to start a career with the Defence Force is a Grade 12 certificate? Check this out:
- A South African Citizen and relinquish any other citizenship
- Preferably single
- Age between 18 and 22 at the time of joining
- Comply with medical fitness requirements for appointment in the SANDF
- English as a school subject
- Currently in Grade 12 or completed Grade 12
- Not be area bound
- Must not have a criminal record
- Comply with all the prescribed requirements for appointment in the SANDF
- Must be willing to relocate and to participate in deployments both in South Africa and abroad if required to do so
- Be recommended by a selection board.
NB: Apart form these general requirements, additional requirements might have to be met, depending on the specific training demands of some of the more specialised occupations.

@site editor, you know sandf is just a disaster. I have about 8 different telephone numbers of the recruitment centre and HR and i’v been calling them since last year November(each and evryday), but no1 answers the phone. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, but anyway…….Thanks…….

Hi, since i’v applied. I applied to navy, airforce, army and samhs, bt up to so far i haven’t been contacted so i just wanted to know if it’s possible to be answered in january and write the tests at the same time or it simply means ALL my applications were unsuccessful…….Thanks……

I would like to know if the millitary has recruited for 2012?…I’m asking bcos I went for an interview last in july and have not received any reply yet.When I call the centre that I did an interview at they say the recruitment centre have not made a list of successful applicants…Any idea when the list will be out?..thanx

I think you should try again… But please look at their requirements [such as age] to see if you meet them…

Now is 2012… If so, be patient because if you qualify they will take and contact you.
In the meantime, try to apply for other programmes in case things don’t work out at SANDF…

i wl like to know if you are already in the army,after 6 months training,if you have a degree,are you going to get the same position as those people who only hv matric? And another question is that after that two years contract,what are the possibilities to someone who have a degree compare to someone with matric or n4…etc,are they going to renew the contract or it will depend on the available positions.

I am sorry to tell you that I have no way of helping you with your question. Why don’t you do one of the following:
(a) contact the people you talked to during the interview process. Hoping that you saved all their numbers.
(b) seeing that it is almost the end of the year, why don’t you be patient a little bit until the beginning of the new year and see if you can get a call.
